Irene Giannimara teaches the course “Art Education” at the Athens School of Fine Arts (Laboratory Teaching Staff, Department of Visual Arts).

She studied Sculpture in Athens (ASFA) and Digital Art in London (Master of Arts – Wimbledon School of Art). She holds a PhD in Art Education from the Athens School of Fine Arts.

She has created and taught the course “Teaching Art and Creative Technologies” at the Department of Audio and Visual Arts of the Ionian University. She also developed the Curriculum for the course “Sculpture” for the Artistic High Schools, as part of the activities of the Ministry of Education and the Institute of Educational Policy.

She is a co-author of the collective work “Célestin Freinet, Critical and Institutional Pedagogy: For a Free, Open, and Collaborative School”. She has published papers in Greek and international academic journals and has participated in international and Greek conferences with presentations. She has held two solo exhibitions and has taken part in numerous group exhibitions.

She is the leader of a research project focused on the following areas: art and education, critical and institutional pedagogy, methodology and curricula, culture and technology, visual culture, creativity, and community. She is a member of the pedagogical team “To Skasiarcheio – Experimental Explorations for a School of the Community.”
