Virtual Art Museum for people with special educational needs and/or disabilities
The Virtual Art Museum, designed for populations with special educational needs and/or disabilities -and not only for them- refers to a recreation of a physical museum in an online environment. It allows visitors to virtually tour the collections of the Athens School of Fine Arts in a realistic manner.
The term “virtual museum” relates to virtual reality technology, and the three-dimensional museum world of the Athens School of Fine Arts is made accessible through a multimedia presentation of the exhibits (images, texts, narrations, and videos) and an automated guided tour (audio guide).
The Virtual Art Museum hosts:
- The Collection of Works/part of the historical Collection of the Athens School of Fine Arts (Permanent Exhibition)
- The Collection of Works/part of the collection/album of graduates from the School’s Department of VIsual Arts (Temporary Exhibition)
- Small thematic exhibitions and educational applications such as memory and observation games, creative engagement activities, all based on the works from the collections and exhibitions. In this “room,” educators can find information about the various exhibitions as well as interdisciplinary activities adapted for all age groups.
The project is offered in both Greek and English, with an interactive and educational character, open and accessible to all, and is continuously being enriched.
The project was implemented (2021–2022) with funding from the Hellenic Ministry of Culture and Sports (27/12/2021, Ref. No.: ΥΠΠΟΑ/602048).
