Kostas Bakas has been working in the field of graphic arts and digital design for approximately 29 years, initially as a desktop publishing (DTP) designer and later in the areas of prepress and digital printing, having served up to the position of production manager. He has also acted as a technical advisor at two European Design Awards conferences.
Since 2002, he has been working at the Athens School of Fine Arts, in the Laboratory of Graphic Arts, Typography, and the Art of the Book, as a member of the Specialised Technical Laboratory Staff (STL Staff). He has implemented and maintains the studio’s infrastructure and is responsible for training students in graphic design applications, motion design, typographic typeface design, calligraphy and lettering workshops, traditional typography and prepress, and supports students in the completion of their projects. His skills in the field of graphic design include expert knowledge of Adobe applications (Certified Expert in Photoshop CC), both in graphic design (Photoshop, Illustrator, InDesign, Acrobat) and in motion design (Premiere, Dragonframe). He is also Apple Certified Trainer (computer-based training), and has strong expertise in digital typeface design, having conducted workshops at local events (Design Athens 5, Design Athens 6). He is currently pursuing his Master’s degree (MA in Design) at Middlesex University.
