Christina Sgouromiti holds a permanent position as a member of the Laboratory Teaching Staff at the Department of Visual Arts of the Athens School of Fine Arts (ASFA) since 2017, specialising in Painting and Research Methodology in Art.
She holds a PhD from the Department of Theory and History of Art at ASFA and was a recipient of a scholarship from the European programme “Heraclitus” (2016). Her research interests focus on 20th-century artistic communities and the relationship between art, craft, and folk traditions. She studied Painting (BA Hons) and Drawing (MA) at Camberwell College of Arts, University of the Arts London (2006).

She was a member of the artistic collective AREA10 in London (2005–2008), and a participant in interdisciplinary collaborations such as ARTIVISTS (London) and the Under Construction Group (Athens). She received art fellowships from the A.G. Leventis Foundation and the Queen Elizabeth Trust. She has been awarded in art competitions including IOI Open Image, CIMA Project Space, and ERT-EDN. In 2016, she was an artist-in-residence at the Archive of the National Bank of Greece. She regularly publishes academic texts and has participated in international conferences, most recently Deleuze & Guattari: Refrains of Freedom, at Panteion University (2015).
She has taught as a guest lecturer in the postgraduate programme of the Department of Architecture at the University of Thessaly (2011), the Department of Theory and History of Art at ASFA (2015), and at the American College of Greece (2008–2011). She has also presented research papers at the MA programme in Ethnography at the Department of Social Anthropology, University of the Aegean (2014, 2015).
At ASFA, she has taught core courses in the 4th Painting Studio, including the seminars The Forsaken Viewer (2018–2020) and Emergency Exit (2020–2021). She has co-curated several interdisciplinary workshops: Genius Loci, ASFA (2016); Learning from our Practices, Documenta Educational Programme (2017); We Are All Vulnerable, Angers-TALM & ASFA (2018); Le petit tour: L’Europe, paysage ou territoire?, in collaboration with École Nationale Supérieure d’Arts de Paris/Cergy, École Européenne Supérieure de l’Image Poitiers/Angoulême, École Supérieure des Beaux-Arts Le Mans (TALM), & ASFA (2018–2019); Lectures, Weißensee School of Art and Design (2019–2020). In the academic year 2023–2024, she is teaching the seminar Library in the core curriculum of the 2nd Sculpture Studio, as well as the seminar The Paradox of Proximity: Transformations of Otherness as part of the course Art in Context.
