AGLAIA (LIA) MPLIOUMI

Lia Mplioumi was born in Elassona.

She studied Painting at the Athens School of Fine Arts (ASFA) in the 1st Painting Studio under Professor Dimitris Mytaras, and Printmaking in the 2nd Printmaking Studio under Professor Vicky Tsalamata. She graduated with distinction in both fields.

From 2001 to 2017, she served as a Visual Arts teacher in Secondary Education. Between 2009 and 2017, she was seconded to the Department of Fine Arts at ASFA, where she offered supplementary teaching in the elective compulsory workshop Techniques of Fresco and Portable Icons, under Professor Pavlos Samios.

Since 2017, she has been a member of the Laboratory Teaching Staff in the Printmaking division of the Department of Visual Arts at ASFA.

Her research interests focus on the dialogue between the biological sciences and the art of printmaking.

She is an active visual artist and has held two solo exhibitions at Adam Gallery. She has participated in numerous group exhibitions and biennials. Her work has been included in exhibition catalogues and widely referenced in the press. She has received five awards in art competitions and biennials.

She is a member of the Chamber of Fine Arts of Greece and the Greek Printmakers Association.
