Αναγόρευση του Stelarc σε Επίτιμο Διδάκτορα της Ανωτάτης Σχολής Καλών Τεχνών, Aμφιθέατρο της Βιβλιοθήκης της ΑΣΚΤ, στις 7 Νοεμβρίου 2025 και ώρα 19:45. (Eλεύθερη πρόσβαση).
Υπό την Πρυτανεία της Αναπληρώτριας Καθηγήτριας Ερατούς Χατζησάββα, Πρυτάνεως της Ανωτάτης Σχολής Καλών Τεχνών και υπό την Κοσμητεία του Καθηγητή Ίωάννη Μεσσήνη, η Σχολή θα απονείμει τον τίτλο του Επίτιμου Διδάκτορα στον διεθνώς αναγνωρισμένο Ελληνο- αυστραλό καλλιτέχνη Stelarc (Στέλιο Αρκαδίου), σε αναγνώριση της εξαιρετικής συμβολής του στις εικαστικές τέχνες.
Το πρωτοποριακό έργο του Stelarc, επικεντρωμένο στο ανθρώπινο σώμα, την τεχνολογία και την πειραματική performance, έχει ασκήσει βαθιά επίδραση στις καλλιτεχνικές και ακαδημαϊκές κοινότητες διεθνώς.
Ό Stelarc, γεννημένος στην Κύπρο και μεγαλωμένος στη Μελβούρνη, είναι Αυστραλός εικα- στικός και περφόρμερ. Έως το 2007 διετέλεσε κύριος ερευνητικός συνεργάτης στη Μονάδα Ψηφιακής Έρευνας Παραστατικών Τεχνών του Nottingham Trent University (Αγγλία), ενώ σήμερα συνεχίζει το ερευνητικό του έργο στο Curtin University της Δυτικής Αυστραλίας. Ό Stelarc πραγματοποίησε την πρώτη του διάλεξη στην ΑΣΚΤ στο Μεταπτυχιακό Πρόγραμμα Ψηφιακών Τεχνών το 1999.
Ή τελετή αναγόρευσης θα πραγματοποιηθεί στην Αθήνα, στο αμφιθέατρο της Βιβλιοθήκης της ΑΣΚΤ, στις 7 Νοεμβρίου 2025 και ώρα 19:45.
Ό τιμώμενος θα προλογιστεί από την Πρύτανη, Αναπληρώτρια Καθηγήτρια Ερατώ Χατζησάββα, τον Αντιπρύτανη Διεθνών Σχέσεων και Εξωστρέφειας, Αναπληρωτή Καθηγητή Ίωάννη Μελανίτη, και την
Κατερίνα Κοσκινά, μέλος του Συμβουλίου Διοίκησης της ΑΣΚΤ, Δρα Ιστορίας Τέχνης – μουσειολόγο και επιμελήτρια εκθέσεων.

Stelarc to be conferred the title of Doctor Honoris causa by the Athens School of Fine Arts.
Under the Rectorship of Erato Chatzisavva, Associate Professor of the Athens School of Fine Arts, and the Deanship of Professor Ioannis Messinis, the School will confer the title of Doctor Honoris causa upon the internationally acclaimed Greek-Australian artist Stelarc (Stelios Arcadiou), in recognition of his outstanding contribution to the visual arts and contemporary artistic discourse. Stelarc’s pioneering work—centered on the human body, technology, and experimental performance, has had a profound impact on global artistic and academic communities.
Stelarc is a Cyprus-born Australian performance artist raised in Melbourne. Until 2007 he held the position of principal research fellow in the Performance Arts Digital Research Unit at Nottingham Trent University in Nottingham, England. He is currently furthering his research at Curtin University in Western Australia. Stelarc gave his fifirst lecture at the Master of Digital Arts of Athens in 1999.
The award ceremony will be held in Athens, Greece, on November 7th, 2025, at 7:45 p.m., in the Amphitheatre of the ASFA Library (256 Pireus Street).
Speeches honouring the awardee will be delivered by the Rector, Associate Professor Erato Chatzisavva, the Vice-Rector for International Relations and Extroversion, Associate Professor Ioannis Melanitis, and Ms. Katerina Koskina, Art Historian, PhD – Museologist and Curator.
