Research Projects at the Department of Art Theory and History
The Department consistently monitors developments regarding the announcement of new research and development programmes, both European and non-European. Research proposals have been and continue to be regularly submitted by the Department’s faculty members. Faculty have participated in programmes such as the “Fulbright Specialist Program,” “Thales,” “Excellence,” and “Archimedes.” Members of the Department have also been involved in the following projects:
- 2019-2024: O Ενδυματολογικός χάρτης στα επαναστατημένα νησιά του Αιγαίου (The Costume Map in the Revolutionary Aegean Islands (funding: HFRI – Hellenic Foundation for Research and Innovation). Scientific Coordinator: Ada Dialla.

- 2006-2009: “Expansion of Higher Education – Athens School of Fine Arts” [co-financed by EPEAEK II (Operational Programme for Education and Initial Vocational Training)]. This project included a variety of actions, such as the creation of the Department’s original website, the compilation and publication of the Student Handbook in both Greek and English, and a pilot research study entitled “Labour Market”, exploring the professional prospects of the Department’s graduates, particularly regarding their potential integration into the secondary education teaching workforce. - 2004-2008: Research project «Φύλο-Πυθαγόρας ΙΙ: Η γυναικεία εικαστική και λογοτεχνική παρουσία στα περιοδικά Λόγου και Τέχνης: 1900-1940» (Gender–Pythagoras II: Women’s Visual and Literary Presence in the Art and Literary Journals: 1900–1940) [co-financed by EPEAEK II]. Scientific Coordinator: Sophia Denissi. The proceedings of the two-day conference organized within the framework of the project have been published in a volume by Gutenberg Editions.
