VASILIS PAFILIS / Instructor (Presidential Decree 407/80)

VASILIS PAFILIS
He was born in Galaxidi in 1968 and currently lives and works in Athens. He studied Painting at the Athens School of Fine Arts (1994–1999) with Yannis Psychopedis and Sculpture (1999–2001) with Thymios Papayannis. He continued his Fine Arts studies at the University of East London, where he completed an MA (2001–2002) and a practice-based Doctorate (PD, 2004–2009), supported by a scholarship from the Efi and Panagiotis Micheli Foundation. Since December 2021, he has been teaching at the Athens School of Fine Arts under the 407/80 academic contract scheme in the 13th Painting Studio, directed by Erato Hatjisavva.
He has taken part in many group exhibitions in Greece and abroad. His solo exhibitions include: Coastlines at the Hellenic Centre in London (2008), Littoralia at the Sueli Turner Gallery in London (2009), On The Move at the Train at Rouf Theatre in Athens (2011), In the Footsteps of the Beekeeper at the Melina Mercouri Cultural Centre in Athens (2014), and Naukratia at the Nautical and Historical Museum of Galaxidi (2021).
His works can be found in London, Madrid, Frankfurt, at Eleftherios Venizelos International Airport, in the Alpha Bank art collection, as well as in private collections.
