Government Gazette issue announcing the appointment: ΦΕΚ 754/Γ/20.03.2023

Mantalina Psoma was born in Athens in 1967. From 1985 to 1992, she studied at the Hochschule der Künste Berlin (now Universität der Künste Berlin), where she earned her undergraduate degree in 1991 and completed her postgraduate studies in 1992. She returned to Athens in 2001.

Mantalina Psoma uses familiar iconographic codes in her painting to construct imaginary, almost otherworldly realities. Her works -marked by a distinctive realism and a silent yet intense atmosphere- delve into the viewer’s inner world, evoking images closely tied to personal experiences or existential concerns.

She has held twelve solo exhibitions to date:

  • Aristi Mountain Resort, Zagorochoria (2017)

  • ALMA Gallery, Trikala (2016)

  • Salon de Bricolage, Athens (2014)

  • Heinz-Martin Weigand Gallery, Berlin (2014)

  • Rebecca Camhi Gallery, Athens (2011, 2006, 2001)

  • Hellenic-German Education Foundation, Athens (2010)

  • TinT Gallery, Thessaloniki (2008, 2003)

  • Kapinos Gallery, Berlin (2005)

  • Zielke Gallery, Berlin (1992)

She has also participated in numerous group exhibitions and art fairs in Greece and abroad.

In 2002, she was selected as the sole Greek painter featured in Vitamin P: New Perspectives in Painting by Phaedon Press—an international survey of 114 of the world’s most significant contemporary painters.
Her works are held in many private collections in Greece and abroad.
