The ASFA Library

The oldest and biggest art library in Greece has been operating at the Athens School of Fine Arts (ASFA) since 1837, year that marked the very beginning of the School for the Arts.

The Library operates as an independent and decentralised service, organised at a Directorate level with the title “Athens School of Fine Arts Library & Information Center”.

The Library’s main purpose is to:

  • Provide scientific and research information and to operate as an Information Center for members of the School’s community.
  • Collect, process and distribute to its members all information sources to which the School has access.
  • Collect and organise the scientific work of the members of the ASFA through repositories, digital libraries and databases, as well as to promote its produced work.
  • To contribute to the retrieval, management, provision and distribution of specialised information to the broader national and international community.
  • To substantially participate in every activity related to education and culture.
