Elena Hamalidi
Elena Hamalidi is an art historian. She teaches History of Art at the Ionian University as an Assistant Professor. She is an Associate Lecturer at the Hellenic Open University (Department of Greek Art, Architecture and Urban Planning) and has also taught at the Universities of Peloponnese and Thessaly. She is a graduate of Archaeology and History of Arts at the University of Athens (B.A., Ph.D.) and Kunsthistorisches Institut, University of Cologne (M.A.). Her thesis focused on the Reception of Modernism in Greek Art and Literary Magazines (1930-40). She has published on Greek modernist and contemporary art and has been one of the editors of Contemporary Greek Artists (Melissa Publishing House, Athens, 2004). In 2009 her monograph on the Greek artist Niki Kanaginiis expected to be in print. She is a member of the Society of Greek Art Historians (E.E.I.T.), of ICOM and AICA. Principal research interests: modernism and its reception in Greece, Greek contemporary art, new media and women's art.
