Maria Nikolopoulou
Maria Nikolopoulou studied in the University of Athens (BA, Classics) and King's College London (MA and Ph.D. in Modern Greek Studies). Her thesis, The discourse of testimony in Modern Greek literary prose (1924-1994), explores how the hybrid discourse of testimony constructs authenticity and highlights the role of writing in the representation of historical experience. Her research interests include the reception of women’s writing, the role of literature in the construction of memory of historical events, the interaction of discourses in postmodernism, the role of periodicals in history of ideas. She has taught European and Modern Greek Literature at the University of Patras and the Greek Open University (associate lecturer).
